Job Description:
The Dunklin R-5 School District has an opening for the position of Special Education Teacher servicing students with social and emotional deficits. This program, RISE, is designed to help students Reach Independence through Support & Empowerment. Students who participate in this program have not found success in a typical classroom environment. The teacher in this position will help develop a program that provides opportunities for students to be successful in a non-traditional classroom environment. The caseload for this program is very small (4-7) enabling staff to develop strong relationships while fostering unique and individual learning paths for students in the classroom. The position will be for the 2025-2026 school year. Under the direction of the Building Principal and Director of Student Services, the Special Education Teacher will develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, function as IEP Case Manager for assigned students, and foster positive relationships with students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience. (First-year teacher base salary of $42,250; Step 1) Experience will be considered.
Certification: K-12 Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical or a comparable special education certification
Benefits: Board Paid Health Life, and Dental Insurance, Employees will be offered, on a fee basis, in-district child care for ages birth through two with preschool available from ages 3-5. PSRS Retirement, optional supplemental insurance plans, and optional 403b; 457 plans. Twelve (12) Personal Days, Paid Jury Duty, Ten (10) Paid Professional Development Days, Ten (10) School Business Days and Five (5) Paid Bereavement Days.

- Provide instruction and support to students according to their IEP
- Create and implement a classroom and individual disciplinary plan
- Work cooperatively with the district behavior specialists and general education teachers to develop effective programming for students
- Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction according to each student’s individualized needs
- Provide leadership and oversight to paraprofessionals
- Participating in professional development activities
- Maintain accurate and compliant student records
- Provide effective and timely communication to parents
- Other duties as may be assigned
