MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • MS in Educational Administration/Valid DESE Principal Certification required
  • Principal or Assistant Principal experience preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership and continuous curriculum review and research, including assisting in and keeping abreast of current research.
  • Be responsible for providing proper care of their buildings and grounds. 
  • Be responsible for communicating and interpreting school policy and practices to staff, parents, students and the public by using all means at his/her disposal.
  • Be responsible for the accurate preparation of all building records and reports.
  • Be responsible for submitting budget requests for each school year to the superintendent. 
  • Be responsible for keeping the superintendent’s office informed of all pertinent information regarding all phases of the school program, including serving as director of a building-level school age child care program and coordinating intramural offerings with the physical education teacher/building staff.
  • Be responsible for evaluating the work of teachers and for reporting this information to the superintendent. 
  • Be responsible for the care and accounting of activity funds.  The superintendent will help establish proper accounting procedures.
  • Be responsible for the calendar of events of the school and will need to attend any meeting that is related to activities of the school except in cases where other administrative staff or teacher sponsors have been delegated.
  • Ensure that materials will be available for substitute teachers to continue the instructional program.
  • Be responsible for conducting emergency/safety drills.
  • Use established policy guidelines when allowing the use of school facilities by individuals or organizations.
  • Be responsible for maintaining discipline.
  • Be responsible for working with the professional development director and the professional development committee to provide leadership in assessing needs and planning and evaluating professional development activities/opportunities.
  • Participate and designate in the supervision of extra-curricular activities.
  • Perform all other duties, relative to the efficient operation of the school, requested of him/her by the superintendent under the board of education policies.
